Privacy Policy for BlockFront

Your privacy is of utmost importance to us. This Privacy Policy outlines the type of information we collect when you use our mod and connect to the BlockFront cloud, and how we use, handle, and store this information. We are committed to ensuring that your information is secure, used responsibly, and handled in compliance with applicable privacy laws.

BlockFront is operated by BoehMod, which is responsible for the information described in this policy. You can reach us at privacy@blockfrontmc.com.

When you connect to the BlockFront cloud, you provide us with certain information, which includes:

  • Minecraft Username: Your in-game identifier for your Minecraft account.
  • Minecraft UUID: The unique identifier tied to your Minecraft account, serving as the identifier for your BlockFront profile.
  • Hardware ID: A hashed identifier generated on your own device from hardware and system details (such as component serial numbers). Only the hashed result ever leaves your device; the underlying details do not. The Hardware ID identifies your device to us, but does not reveal what hardware you own.
  • IP Address: Your IP address is visible to our servers when you connect, as with any online service. We store it in our database only in a hashed form (see Section 2). Our server logs also record it for a limited time (see Section 15).
  • Mod Version and Integrity Hash: The version of the BlockFront mod you are running and a checksum of the mod file, used to verify authentic, up-to-date clients.

To ensure a safe and enjoyable gaming environment for all players, we maintain ban lists for our servers, which may include hashed IP addresses and Hardware IDs.

Each time you connect, we store a hashed version of your IP address alongside your UUID. This is used for ban management and to detect duplicate (“alternate”) accounts used to evade bans. When two accounts share a hashed IP address or Hardware ID, we also count how often they are online at the same time, which helps tell a shared household or network apart from one person using several accounts. We do not store your IP address in plain form in our database, and we do not use it for any other purpose.

The Hardware ID helps us identify and manage user sessions, particularly when multiple users connect from the same IP address but different devices. It is also used to enforce hardware bans and to detect alternate accounts belonging to banned players.

Because the Hardware ID is a hash, no personal information, and no details about your hardware, can be read from it. It does, however, consistently identify your device to us, which is what makes fair and effective ban enforcement possible.

We do not keep your in-game chat in our database. Our game servers write chat messages to their server logs, which are used for moderation and troubleshooting and are deleted after a limited time.

To keep the game welcoming, chat messages are checked against an automated language filter. If a message is flagged, or another player reports it, that message, along with a few of your immediately preceding messages for context, your username, and your UUID, is stored and forwarded to our moderation team for human review. Reports, and the record of who made them, are kept for a limited time for review and then deleted automatically.

Players can also report a username, skin, or brigade. A report records what was reported (the username, a reference to the skin, or the brigade name and tag), and a skin report keeps a picture of the skin for staff to review. These reports are also deleted automatically after a limited time. When staff decide a reported username, skin, or brigade is acceptable, we remember that decision so it is not reviewed again, until it changes.

When staff or our automated systems issue a warning, mute, or ban, we store its type, reason, start and end times, and the staff member who issued it. You can see your own punishments, including past ones, on the Punishments page of your profile; the issuing staff member is never shown to you. When a player is punished for a flagged or reported chat message, other players in their match may be told so in chat.

Staff may also keep internal notes on an account, for example to keep an eye on suspected cheating.

Punishment records are kept to enforce them and to handle repeat offences, including after an account is closed (see Section 12).

To keep matches fair, BlockFront includes anti-cheat checks. While you are connected, the mod checks the game for unauthorized modifications, such as cheat software running inside the game, and reports what it finds to our anti-cheat team. These checks are limited to the game: its mods and mods folder, its resource packs, and the code and libraries running inside it, including libraries it loads from your computer’s temporary folder. They never read your documents or other personal files, and never look at other programs on your computer. A report can include the names, locations, and checksums of files the game uses, and a file’s location can contain your computer’s user name.

Our game servers also check gameplay, such as how shots are aimed and hit, for signs of cheating. Suspicious results are kept for a limited time for staff review.

7. Screenshot Command for Debugging and Moderation

Section titled “7. Screenshot Command for Debugging and Moderation”

Our mod includes a screenshot capability, functioning similarly to Minecraft’s native screenshot feature (F2 hot-key), for debugging and moderation purposes. It captures only the Minecraft game window, never your desktop or other applications.

Our moderation staff may request a screenshot of your game while you are connected to official BlockFront servers, for example to investigate cheating reports. Screenshots are shown to the requesting staff member and are not stored on our servers. This capability is only active after you have accepted the BlockFront rules in-game.

By using our mod and accepting the rules, you consent to the potential use of this capability during gameplay.

7.1 Screenshot Command on Third Party Servers

Section titled “7.1 Screenshot Command on Third Party Servers”

Server owners on third-party servers may use the in-game screenshot command for various purposes, including moderation. Screenshots are not stored by the server but may be distributed by the user of the command.

Users should be aware that the use of this command on third-party servers is governed by the policies of those servers. If you have concerns about its use on a third-party server, you may opt to disconnect from that server at any time.

While we cannot directly moderate third-party servers, we encourage a respectful community around our mod. Please report any misuse or abuse of the screenshot command to us.

To power progression, leaderboards, and social features, and to balance and improve the game, we store gameplay data linked to your UUID, including:

  • Match history: Per-match results such as kills, deaths, assists, score, and team. Individual match records are automatically deleted after 30 days.
  • Detailed match records: For matches played through matchmaking, our game servers also record how each match was played: time played and time alive, shots, hits and damage, weapons and classes used, objective activity, how score was earned, and when you joined or left. They also record timestamped events such as kills, deaths and objective captures, including the in-game location where they happened. These records are deleted together with the match record after 30 days.
  • Profile statistics: Lifetime totals, ranks, skill rating, achievements, challenges, login streaks, unlocked items, and loadouts.
  • Social features: Friends lists, brigade membership, parties, and map ratings.
  • Logins: When you first and last logged in, and how many times.
  • Account activity: A short log of events on your account, such as items received and matches joined, used to answer support requests. It is deleted after a limited time.

Detailed match records are measured entirely by our game servers. They contain nothing about your device or anything outside the game, and connection latency is recorded only as an average across the whole lobby, never per player. Our game servers also record where players moved on each map as an anonymous grid, with no link to any player.

From time to time we try out variations of a feature, such as the challenges given to new players, to see which works better. Your account may be placed in one of these groups, and we compare the groups using the gameplay data described above.

We also keep anonymous daily totals, such as matches played per game mode, how often each weapon is used, how much experience is awarded, and how many players logged in. These totals contain no player identifiers and are kept indefinitely so we can follow long-term trends. We may publish aggregated, anonymous statistics (for example, per-map team win rates). These aggregates never include individual player data.

9. Public Profiles, Social Features and Stats Websites

Section titled “9. Public Profiles, Social Features and Stats Websites”

Part of your BlockFront profile is public. Other players can see it in-game, and we make the same information available to approved community stats websites through our player API:

  • Identity: Your Minecraft username and UUID, your rank, and the name and tag of your brigade.
  • Profile statistics: The totals shown on your in-game profile, such as experience, time played, games played, kills, deaths, assists, and ratios. If you have chosen to hide your skill rank, it is hidden here too.
  • Recent matches: Up to your 20 most recent matches, as shown on your profile: the game mode, map, when the match ended and how long it lasted, your team and result, and your kills, deaths, assists, and score. Like the rest of your match history, these are only available for 30 days.

The API never includes your IP address, Hardware ID, linked Discord or Patreon accounts, chat, screenshots, moderation records, or the detailed match records described in Section 8.

Access requires a key, which we issue only to website operators we have approved. Each key is rate limited, and we can revoke it at any time. These websites are run by independent operators, not by BlockFront. Once they have received your public profile information, how they store and display it is governed by their own policies.

Some milestones, such as rank-ups, prestige, achievements, and item drops, are announced with your username in our official Discord server. Depending on your privacy settings, they also appear in the in-game Social Feed of your friends and, if you lead a brigade, its members. Social Feed entries are deleted after 7 days.

Friend requests and brigade invites you send or receive are kept for 7 days so they can be answered later, then deleted.

The Privacy section of the in-game settings lets you choose, among other things, who can see what you are doing, who can spectate you, who can send you friend requests, brigade invites, and party invites, and who sees your activity in their Social Feed. You can also appear offline to everyone. These choices are saved to your BlockFront profile so they follow you between devices.

You may optionally link third-party accounts to your BlockFront profile:

  • Discord: If you link your Discord account, we store your Discord user ID alongside your UUID to provide Discord-based features: synchronizing your Discord roles and nickname with your in-game rank, supporter status, and brigade, and granting supporter perks. While linked, we also record the amount of time you spend in our official Discord server’s voice channels (a duration counter only) for in-game progression rewards. You can unlink at any time; leaving our Discord server automatically deletes the link.
  • Patreon: If you link your Patreon account, we store your Patreon ID and membership tier to grant supporter benefits. Access tokens are stored encrypted. We never receive your payment details, which remain with Patreon.

You can close your BlockFront account yourself at any time from the main menu, using Close on your profile or Close Account in the settings menu. The settings option also works if you cannot sign in to BlockFront, for example while banned. It confirms the account with your game’s current Minecraft session, the same one used to join any multiplayer server, so you are never asked to sign in again.

A closed account is deleted 30 days later. Until then you can change your mind by signing in again and choosing to restore it, which returns the account as it was. Once deleted, your profile, statistics, items, friends, brigade membership, Social Feed entries, settings, linked accounts, and match records are permanently erased. A brigade you still lead when your account is deleted is disbanded. Once an account has been deleted, the same Minecraft account cannot be closed again for 90 days.

Some information is kept after deletion, because it is needed to keep the game safe:

  • Punishments and ban records, including banned hashed IP addresses and Hardware IDs, and reports and anti-cheat records about the account, for as long as each would otherwise be kept.
  • The hashed IP addresses and Hardware IDs used by the account, only if it has an active or pending punishment, so that it cannot be evaded with a new account.
  • A one-way hash of the account’s UUID, kept for 90 days to enforce the limit above.

Deleted information may remain in our backups until they are overwritten on their regular rotation.

BlockFront relies on a small number of third-party services:

  • Mojang: We verify your login through Mojang’s official session servers, the same mechanism used by all Minecraft multiplayer servers. A temporary randomized authentication token is used for this; it does not grant us access to your Minecraft account.
  • Discord: Our moderation team operates through Discord, so moderation material described in this policy (flagged chat, reports, anti-cheat reports, screenshots, ban notices, including your username and UUID) is transmitted through Discord’s platform. Additionally, if you run Discord alongside the game, the mod can display your current BlockFront activity (username, rank, game mode, and map) as Discord Rich Presence on your own profile.
  • BlockFront Discord bot: Our bot operates only in our official Discord server. It processes messages there transiently: to respond to commands, to enforce a few server rules (such messages are deleted, not kept), and to read staff-written announcements from one designated channel so they can be shown in the in-game news feed. The bot does not store, log, or analyze message content, and no message content is used for advertising, analytics, or training AI models.
  • Player heads and skins: Our Discord announcements and staff tools show player heads and skins from a public Minecraft skin rendering service, which receives your UUID to draw them.
  • Modrinth and our content delivery servers: The mod periodically checks for updates and downloads them from these services. No personal data is sent in these requests beyond your IP address being visible to the service, as with any download.
  • OVHcloud: Our servers and database are hosted by OVHcloud in the European Union.

Some of these services, such as Mojang, Discord, and Modrinth, may process information outside the European Union, under their own safeguards for international transfers.

We do not sell your data. Apart from the public information described in Section 9, we do not share it with any third party, and we never share it for advertising.

We implement various security measures to ensure the safety of your personal information. IP addresses are hashed before they are stored in our database, Hardware IDs are hashed on your device before transmission, and linked account tokens are stored encrypted. Access to personal information is restricted to authorized personnel.

Information is retained only as long as necessary for the purposes outlined in this policy. In particular:

  • Match records, including their detailed match records, are deleted after 30 days.
  • Social Feed entries, friend requests, and brigade invites are deleted after 7 days.
  • Reports, anti-cheat records, account activity logs, and server logs (which can include chat messages and the IP address you connected from) are kept for a limited time for moderation, security, and troubleshooting, then deleted automatically.
  • Session authentication data is deleted within a day.
  • Backups are overwritten on a regular rotation.
  • Profile data (statistics, items, friends, brigade membership, settings), and the hashed IP addresses and Hardware IDs used by your account, are kept until your account is deleted (see Section 12).
  • Punishments and ban records are kept while relevant to keeping the game safe, including after an account is deleted.
  • Anonymous aggregate statistics, which contain no player identifiers, are kept indefinitely.

We use your information to provide the game you asked to play (accounts, matchmaking, progression, and social features), and because we have a legitimate interest in keeping it fair and safe (anti-cheat, moderation, ban enforcement, and security) and in improving it (statistics and feature tests). Linking a Discord or Patreon account is optional and based on your choice to link it.

You have rights concerning your personal information, including access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, and data portability. You can delete your account and its data yourself at any time (see Section 12). For any other request, contact us at the address below and we will process it.

If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, you also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

BlockFront is intended for players aged 13 or older, or older where local law requires, as set out in our Terms of Service.

We may update this policy periodically. Significant changes will be communicated to you through appropriate channels.

This policy is designed to comply with relevant privacy laws and regulations. Data may be stored or transferred to comply with legal requirements.

For questions or concerns about our privacy practices, please contact privacy@blockfrontmc.com.
