Reporting and punishments
Everyone who plays online must follow our rules. If you see someone breaking them, you can report them, and our moderation team will review it.
Reporting a chat message
Section titled “Reporting a chat message”You can report a message sent by another player during a matchmaking match:
- Open chat and click the message.
- Confirm that you want to report it.
You can only report messages you received, and only for a short time after they were sent.
Reporting a username, skin or brigade
Section titled “Reporting a username, skin or brigade”Open the report menu from any of these places:
- A player’s menu in the tab list
- A friend’s menu
- A brigade member’s menu
- A player’s profile
- Another brigade’s page, to report its name or tag
If you can’t find the player, use Report Player in the main menu or the pause menu. Enter their username or UUID, and their profile opens so you can report them from there.
Choose Username, Skin or Brigade, then confirm. You can add a reason to tell our moderation team what’s wrong, but you don’t have to.
After you report
Section titled “After you report”Our moderation team reviews every report. If they take action and you’re online, you’ll get a message in chat. Reports aren’t always answered, so hearing nothing doesn’t mean your report was missed.
If you report something that has already been reviewed and found to be fine, the game tells you straight away.
Punishments
Section titled “Punishments”The punishment depends on how serious the rule broken was, and further offences can lead to stronger punishments. A punishment either lasts a set time or is permanent.
| Punishment | What it means |
|---|---|
| Warning | A message from our moderation team. It doesn’t stop you playing, but you must read it and press Understood. |
| Muted | You can’t send chat messages in a match. |
| Report Cooldown | You can’t report players. |
| Competitive Cooldown | You can’t search for competitive matches. |
| Brigade Creation Ban | You can’t create a brigade. |
| Match-making Ban | You can’t join matches or parties, and you’re removed from any match you’re in. |
If someone in your party has a Match-making Ban, your party can’t search for a match.
Competitive cooldowns
Section titled “Competitive cooldowns”You get a Competitive Cooldown if you miss competitive match accepts, never join a match you accepted, or abandon a match. Abandoning brings a 24 hour cooldown and also affects your skill rank.
Seeing your punishments
Section titled “Seeing your punishments”While you have an active punishment, a red badge appears in the lobby:
Hover over it to see each punishment’s type, reason and time left, or click it to open the Punishments page. You can also reach that page from your own profile. It lists your current and past punishments, each with one of these statuses:
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Active | It’s running now. |
| Permanent | It has no end date. |
| Expired | It has run its full length. |
| Lifted | It ended early, or was replaced by a newer punishment. |
Your profile also shows other players how many warnings, mutes and bans you’ve had.
Read more about how we store punishments in our Privacy Policy.
Appeals
Section titled “Appeals”We don’t currently have an appeal system, so punishments can’t be appealed. This is something we may introduce at a later time.
