Ranks and skill
BlockFront has two separate ranks. Your player rank shows how much you’ve played, and your skill rank shows how well you play.
Player rank
Section titled “Player rank”You earn EXP by playing, and your player rank goes up as you earn it.
Prestige
Section titled “Prestige”Once you reach the top rank, you can prestige to start the climb again with a new badge. You lose your current rank but keep your unlocked classes and items. You need to reach Prestige 1 before you can create a brigade.
Skill rank
Section titled “Skill rank”Your skill rank is based on your match performance and how much you contribute to objectives. EXP and player rank have no effect on it, so a new player can outrank a veteran.
Play 10 rated matches to earn your first rank.
| 1 | 2 | 3 | Master | |

| Gold | ||||
| Diamond | ||||
| Obsidian |
Above them all is Ender Elite, the top skill rank, held by the highest rated active players.
Which matches count
Section titled “Which matches count”A match counts towards your skill rank if all of these are true:
- It’s Domination, Team Deathmatch, Offensive or Saboteur, including casual Saboteur.
- It has at least 6 players, with at least 2 on each team.
- One team won. Draws don’t count.
- It isn’t a very large match, such as those on event servers.
You also need to be in the match for at least a minute, and for at least a tenth of its length.
What changes your rank
Section titled “What changes your rank”Each rated match can move your skill up or down, based on two things:
- Your team’s result. Beating a stronger team counts for more than beating a weaker one.
- Your own performance. You’re compared with the other players in the match, and objective play counts for a lot.
A few other things affect how much a match counts:
- New players move faster, so your rank finds its level quickly.
- The later you join a match, the less its result counts for you.
- If you switch teams during a match, its result doesn’t count for you, only your performance.
Leaving a match
Section titled “Leaving a match”This means your skill rank can change after you’ve logged off, because of a match you left earlier. It’s always from a match you joined.
If your team wins after you leave, the win counts for less. Abandoning a competitive match is stricter: it counts as a loss even if your team goes on to win, and brings a 24 hour competitive cooldown.
Dropping a rank
Section titled “Dropping a rank”Your rank doesn’t drop the moment your skill falls below it. Each rank has a small buffer, so you can dip under it for a while and keep the rank. Once you pass that buffer you drop down a rank, and a small loss can be what tips you over.
To climb back, you need to reach the rank’s full requirement again.
When you drop a rank, the match summary shows it. There’s no other notification, so you may miss it if you left the match early.
Not playing
Section titled “Not playing”Your skill never goes down from not playing, however long you’re away.
Ender Elite is the one exception. Its spots go to the highest rated active players, so you can lose yours if you stop playing rated matches for a while or if someone overtakes you. You then go back to the rank your skill has earned.
Hiding your skill rank
Section titled “Hiding your skill rank”To hide your skill rank from other players, turn off Show My Skill Rank in your privacy settings. Other players will see that you keep it private, and you won’t get a skill role on Discord.
